Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled 2D artist to join the creative development team.  This artist will be focused on creating awe-inspiring artwork for all of Blizzard Entertainment's intellectual properties. The ideal candidate has extensive experience creating digital illustrations in a variety of different visual styles.  A solid grasp of foundational art skills, color theory, human and creature anatomy, design theory and Blizzard Entertainment's IPs are essential.  The creative development artist must have expert command of Photoshop or an equivalent painting program.  The perfect candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about creating awesome art, takes constructive criticism very well, and can hit deadlines.

This is a full-time position at our office in Irvine, California.

Responsibilities
  • Create high profile illustrations for Blizzard Entertainment’s IPs for a variety of purposes including magazine covers, novel covers, and marketing and promotional materials.
  • Occasionally create concept and in-game art for Blizzard Entertainment’s development teams.
  • Work with the creative development producer to complete tasks by the assigned due dates.
  • Work with the creative development art lead to achieve the necessary final image quality.
Requirements
  • Experience creating digital art in a professional environment
  • Strong foundational skills including anatomy, color theory, composition, etc.
  • Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard Entertainment's IPs and a passion to push them to the next level
  • Experience working with an art director on a unique and cohesive visual style, with the versatility to work in a variety of styles
  • Able to understand and incorporate requests for revisions
  • Self-motivated, good communication skills, and a great team player with a can-do attitude
  • Out-of-the-box thinking, and creative problem solving abilities
  • A passion for video games and art
Pluses
  • Art college graduate
  • Use of traditional art mediums
  • Sculpting experience
  • Modeling and texturing using 3DS Max, Maya, Z-brush, MudBox, or equivalent program
